ANIMAL DAY

Feb. 25 2011 was an animal day. I saw live animals that I only see in TV for the first time. It was a great experience. Thanks to my friend JOV for treating me. MANILA ZOO and MANILA OCEAN PARK was a great experience.

This is Jov.

When you get off from the taxi, these birds are the first animal you’ll see before getting in the zoo. They’re for sale. I didn’t ask for the price. I pity them.  (They should be flapping their wings above our heads)

These are real chicks. They are tinted with bright colors.  Looking at them, I could see their fate.  They were suffering from the scorching heat of the sun. (I remember when I was a kid, I had a hen. My Lola gave me. I tied it at our backyard. I woke up the next day and saw her dead. It was the bright morning sunshine the killed her. She was trying to avoid the sunshine but she was tied)
And the narcissistic me. Getting in manila zoo will cost you 40php. As soon as you get in, the largest land animal will welcome you. Sadly, it looks unhealthy. He deserves to be in his natural habitat with his relatives and friends. Thanks to Lightroom for the warm touch with this photo. at least it looks like we were in Africa- one of its natural habitats.

I didn’t care about its name so I don’t know what snake is that (it looks like a Python).  It feeds on a live chicken. There are live chickens in that large terrarium too, unfortunately I didn’t shoot them.  (How I wished I saw it feasting on its prey with its constricting power. Live food chain in action)
Poor Philippine Deer with no grass to feed on. I wish he was on his natural habitat.
While looking at this poor endangered animal, I heard some people talked about how they used to catch this animal in the forest. They ate them and got a week supply of meat. They said "Now they’re gone." I just realized Filipinos needs to be educated about protecting animals.
Patience will keep me alive
The zebra was shy. I wanted to take a full-body shot but I couldn’t.  He was busy talking to his friend.
Next, we were in Ocean Park.  We watched a sea lion show and were amazed by its talent.
Nana, Ate Nids, and the star!
Flash photography is not allowed in Ocean Park’s Oceanarium. But people were still were using it. I wanted to tell them about it or turn their flashes off if they don’t know how to do it. The Ocean Park lady kept on saying “turn your camera flashes off because it will damage the fishes’ eyes” but people didn’t seem to listen. We took our camera out and took a shot. Click! Oooops! Oh shit! Our camera flashed. Now we’re one of those people who didn’t seem to understand the rules. Shame.

This creature is art.
I used to see watch them in national geographic. Sharks
(noisy photo)
Jellyfish world. Thank the mirror for making them look amazing. I love illusions…
It felt like he was talking to me.  Was he asking something? I wanted to touch him but I was scared, he might bite me.  I looked into his eyes and he also looked into mine. It was a religious experience. I felt something unexplainable.
We felt so tired after all the day’s activity.

I have loved animals and nature when I was a kid, though I never had a pet. (My mom and dad hate pets. They throw them away.) This day made me understand why animal activists wants zoo to be banned. I think I feel the same way too. Now, I want them banned. I believe that animals should stay in their natural habitat. But I wouldn’t feel this way without going to a zoo. Do we really need zoos?

Divisoria to Makati

It‘s Thursday and I went to Divisoria, the shopping capital of the Philippines for the Filipino masses.  It was my first time in that place. I heard a lot of good things about the place, such as high quality clothes in a very cheap price. But that didn’t meet my expectations. I didn’t like the clothes and the quality. (Id still go for Ukay-ukay.)
We spent almost 4 hours walking around the place looking for a good stuff. Unfortunately, I haven’t found one… not even one. (poor me).  I went home with nothing. So  I rewarded my self by making this video. A timelpase video from Divisoria to Makati. So here it is.

CALIRAYA, LAGUNA

It was the worst ride ever. Never again! MRT (train) on rush hour. I got home form work with a battery-low body, stressed from worked and triple-stressed form the MRT ride. I took the MRT to get home early for the Caliraya trip. I was so excited about it. I needed to go somewhere far. I needed to travel.

I got home and instantly was ready for the trip. I went out, wrapped with recycled clothes, the same clothes I used from work. (Wardrobe is empty, they all partying in the hamper).

The decision was impromptu. Hermana Potencio pinged me about the trip, asked me if I go. I was sleepy and draggy that day and felt so tired. Unfortunately, I can’t say no to travels.

Hermana Potencio, a former Mormon missionary brought me there. She said that she’ll meet a friend, Anthony, a former missionary, too. (Who later I learned that it was her ex)

We took a bus in Buendia station. The Bus left at around 10:30am. The bus wasn’t that good. The window glasses were dirty so the view outside was bad.  Taking photos did not work; it’ll waste the camera’s battery instead. So, I just slept and went all the way to Slumberland. Too bad I didn’t enjoy the scenery while                      travel. On the contrary, the short nap gave me a dose of energy.

After three hours we finally got off the bus. We were in Sta. Cruz, Laguna. It was about 1:30pm So, what’s next? Hermana texted her ex. She said that we needed to ride a jeepney going to Siniloan. “That’s where he’s going to meet us”.

We took a jeepney ride. The ride was amazing. We passed Paete, a small town in Laguna and is known for "The Carving Capital of the Philippines”. We also saw an amazing old church built a more than a hundred years ago, Pakil church. Pangil reminded me of safari.

This is in Sta. Cruz, Laguna.
Most bridges in the Philippines are banded by a politicians' name.

The 'show-off' town of Paete where streets are surrounded with woodcarving and handicraft shops. Roam around this small town and you'll see how they actually make their  solid products. Show-offs.

We finally met Anthony in a school in Siniloan. He was with hi tricycle, wasted no time and started our trip going to Caliraya Lake. The road to Caliraya Lake was torture for the tricycle. It was uphill and the tricycle was crying in pain. The sound was deafening. He was making a grinding noise, I thought it’s the bike chain can hardly cling on to the sprocket. Poor tricycle. Hang on, tricycle. It will soon be over. While the tricycle was in pain, I was in pleasure enjoying the view as the wind gets colder and colder..the altitude get higher and higher.

Uphill.
We stopped over to take photos of the amazing lake.

Take a good rest our dear trike while enjoying the man made-lake.

Finally, we were at the lake. We wasted no time and took pictures. It was getting late.

SUNDAY SHIFT

Sunday shift. I came to work. I walked in the building hallway. It was so silent like there is no one. The security guard checked my bag then let me in the production floor. I was alone. Where are the agents? It was Sunday, stupid! Everyone is enjoying their day off.

I walked in. The only noise that I heard was the air conditioning unit.  It was dim. Most of the lights were off. I saw one agent. He was sleeping in his workstation; mouth’s opened, waiting for a call while leaning against his chair. There's another one, a girl smiling and giggling while texting.  (She must be texting her boyfriend. Valentine’s on the next day). And another one, browsing on the Internet. Everyone’s breaking the house rules. Truly, when the cat’s away, the mouse will play.

But me? No no no. I am a good boy. Instead of breaking company policies, I explored my workstation computer and found MS Paint and created these images out our boredom.

And before you see my picture that i made, let me inform you that these are stupid images. They make no sense. I did this not to entertain you but just to kill my boredom. A little child's artwork is better than these images. Nothing is amazing or nice about this images.
